Myself and my family will be eternally grateful to Mr Cheetham and his team. The kindness and professionalism shown to us will never be forgotten. Thanks to Mr Cheetham's skill to achieve my resection via keyhole surgery my journey through bowel cancer has been as smooth as it possibly could. Inturn my quick recovery time ensured prompt referral, treatment and resection for secondary liver cancer. His down to earth attitute, approciability and sense of humour allowed us all to deal with the diagnosis and our questions surrounding with positivity. We also wish to thank Andrea for her patience and prompt replies when we had questions and needed reassurance. An exceptional team, an exceptional service and they have truely saved my life because of their skill and efficiency.

He is an excellent surgeon who shows care, compassion and empathy to his patients and relatives. He is willing to listen and take time to discuss any concerns you may have. He also has an excellent team who all work well together and also show compassion and empathy to the patient going that extra mile for the patient. I would recommend him to anyone who needs an excellent surgeon, one who is willing to go that extra mile and one who is willing to listen to his patient ensuring the patient is the centre of the consultation. I would like to thank him for the exceptional care he has given me.

I find it difficult to express just how grateful I and my family are to Mr Cheetham. As a nurse with over 30 years experience working in the NHS I have a very good idea of what makes a good doctor. I can say that Mr Cheetham is the best. He is calm, explains the situation clearly and at all times treats you as an individual.Having been diagnosed with bowel cancer in Dec 2015 I really appreciated his kind ,empathetic manner as he explained the plan of care. Even though I was scared he made me feel safe and even managed to make me laugh with his wicked sense of humour ! After surgery he telephoned my husband to let him know how it had gone which is amazing and much appreciated. His skill in performing the resection laparoscopically has meant a quick recovery and I have had good news regarding my prognosis. He saw me everyday during my hospital stay and again although professional at all times he manages to make what could be a difficult time so much more bearable with his sense of humour. The care that I have received from the chemotherapy team at Mount Vernon ,Mr Cheetham and his team of doctors and specialist nurses and the ward staff at Watford General and Hemel Hempstead hospital has been outstanding and they have saved my life for which I will be forever grateful.

I first met my surgeon Mr Cheetham in Dec 2015 after being diagnosed with a large tumour in the sigmoid. He was extremely positive at all times in outlining the surgery he was going to perform with full explanation of the procedure and any pitfalls that may result' The surgery was aborted half way through and I was referred to a specialist oncology clinic in order to shrink the tumour. Again Mr Cheetham explained that this was a somewhat new method of treating my illness and that future surgery would have a higher likelihood of success as a result. After a suitable course of chemo he then operated on me a second time and the tumour was successfully removed. We have now had a meeting after the offending material was sent for biopsy and he has informed me that I am cancer free and fully explained all the follow up procedures for the next five years. In all my dealings with Mr Cheetham I have found him to be completely informative, professional and approachable and I cannot thank him enough for the surgery he has performed on me. I extend this thanks to his whole team at Watford General Hospital with all the specialist bodies involved in my care liaising and dovetailing to provide an extremely caring and professional service. I shall also write to the cancer teams at Mount Vernon Hospital where the same excellent service was provided. Once again I cannot thank Mr Cheetham and all the staff enough.

My operation was on 16th April 2015 and I have nothing but praise for Mr Cheetham and his team. From the minute I met Mr Cheetham I felt at ease, he has a terrific manner, very calming and matter of fact. He has an ability to talk to you on a personal level and clearly explains everything that is going to happen and has happened. A down to earth real person, not like often a person in a suit talking down to you. My operation was a bit tricky and he said he would try to do it keyhole, his tenacity and determination to achieve this meant he spent a lot longer than expected, he succeeded which gave me a quicker recovery, I am sure many surgeans would have tried to keep to the keyhole surgery but when it got difficult would have taken the easier route for them and not been as dogged and determined to carry on this less invasive option with my short and long term recovery in mind above an easier task for himself. I am very lucky to have previously had an excellent Heart consultant in Duncan Diamond at Barts, for an earlier medical issue and now I am even luckier to have Mr Cheetham as my cancer consultant, one of the nicest medical people I have ever met. THANK YOU Mr Cheetham for making this really difficult time a lot easier to cope with.
